Perfectionism part 2
In this entry’s thought about perfectionism, I started to think about the term safe space that I’ve used for years when discussing diversity, equity, and inclusiveness (DEI). I started to realize this term adds to a sense of perfectionism. Why? To have a conversation about systems of oppression is inherently uncomfortable and that’s okay. To try to keep a space, absolutely safe means we might not have the crucial conversations that we need to have to address the issues at hand. So why am I trying to get to the perfection of a safe space when a brave space allows for us to be messy?

This is a great invitation that has helped me start to pull back from the perfection of a safe space and the value of a brave space.
